  • Bromsgrove woman's student success

    Lianne Cooper

    18 July 2008

A BROMSGROVE woman has scooped a top student award following her outstanding practice in the workplace.
Julie Cairns from Stoke Prior successfully completed the NVQ level three in business administration, as part of her training and development programme with employer Foster Care Associates (FCA).
And she was awarded the coveted title ‘Most Successful Achiever of the Year’ at an awards ceremony organised by the North East Worcestershire College, last month.
Through the Government funded ‘Train to Gain’ scheme, Julie was among nine FCA members of staff who successfully completed the NVQ level three at NEW College.
It is the first year in which the college has held these awards and guest of honour, Jacqui Smith, home secretary and MP for Redditch, was invited to carry out formal presentations.
FCA also walked off with ‘Best Employer Showing Commitment to Training’ which was presented to manager, Janet Grenfell, who said: "I’m thrilled to see so many FCA staff showing commitment to achieving their NVQ level 3.
"This standard of achievement underlines the professionalism and on-going training which FCA endeavours to deliver company-wide.
“We are especially proud of Julie Cairns’ attainment who has worked for the organisation for over four years.”
Mrs Cairns added: "It is thanks to Janet and the team at FCA that I have managed to complete this level of training.
"Working for FCA has enabled me to develop my career and progress many opportunities which is wonderful for my future progression.
"I’m now looking forward to gaining my level four award which will hopefully happen next year."
FCA Midland is part of the UK’s leading independent foster care agency. The Midland operation has regional headquarters in Bromsgrove and a further six area offices across the West Midlands.
