  • Childcare scheme helping parents who want to work

    Lianne Cooper

    18 July 2008

A SMALL business based in Inkberrow is on the look-out for more local companies to take on its childcare scheme to help parents who want to go back to work.
KiddiVouchers, run by husband and wife Calum and Alison Chalmers, offers childcare vouchers to parents, and is calling on employers to set up schemes in their workplace.
The company currently supplies vouchers to over 1,000 businesses, including A to Z Maps, Friends of the Earth and Center Parcs as well as public sector clients Gloucestershire County Council, The Highland Council, Gloucestershire Constabulary and part of the NHS.
Mrs Chalmers, who along with her husband has over 15 years experience in the finance industry, said: "As we are all only too well aware, childcare costs can be a huge drain on family income.
"But with the help of KiddiVouchers, families can save up to £2,391 a year - with no means-testing or complicated claim forms.
"And employers who set up a KiddiVouchers scheme for their staff also save up to £373 a year for each employee, so everybody wins."
Childcare vouchers can be used to pay for many kinds of care, including nurseries, playgroups, pre-school, registered childminders, after school clubs, holiday play schemes and nannies for children up to the age of 15.
And parents do not need to change their childcare provider to take advantage of the vouchers, as they can normally be used at a career of their choose.
KiddiVouchers, also gives at least five per cent of its profits to children's charities.
MR Chalmers added: "KiddiVouchers is an ethical company which is committed to making childcare vouchers available to all parents.
"We have focused on simplicity and flexibility, aiming to minimise administration for employers.
"We include a fully-managed service as standard and our charges are well below the industry average."
